Evaluation Across the NLN Jeffries Simulation Theory

Pamela Jeffries in GW Sim Lab

This interactive workshop introduces the simulation educator to evaluation tools used to assess the design of the simulation, facilitator evaluation and learner performance during simulation experiences. Emphasis is placed on the development of outcome criteria for a simulation experience. Elements of formative, summative and high-stakes evaluation are highlighted.

Objectives:
Upon completion of the intensive, the participants will:

  1. Discuss evaluation across the NLN/Jeffries Simulation Theory.
  2. Describe the various tools for use in evaluating simulation design, facilitator competence and participant performance.
  3. Utilize a valid and reliable tool for evaluating participant performance in simulation.
  4. Compare and contrast formative, summative and high stakes evaluation following a simulation scenario.
