The Center for Health Policy and Media Engagement invites you to the first Policy Seminar Series of the 2019-2020 academic year.
We will be hearing from two speakers from the National Association of School Nurses (NASN) on the topic of Policies and Research to Optimize Student Health: Donna Mazyck, executive director, and Erin Maughan, director of research.
Donna Mazyck, MS, RN, NCSN, CAE serves as the executive director of NASN. Donna spent most of her nursing career in community-based settings. For 25 years, her practice focus has been school health. Ms. Mazyck began her school health career as a high school nurse. She worked for 13 years as a state school nurse consultant at the Maryland State Department of Education. Ms. Mazyck served as president of the National Association of School Nurses from 2007-2009.
Dr. Erin D. Maughan, PhD, MS, RN, PHNA-BC, FNASN, FAAN, serves as the director of research at NASN where she co-leads the development of school nurse outcome indicators and uniform data points. She also teaches public health nursing as an adjunct associate professor at Georgetown University. Prior to joining NASN, Dr. Maughan was full-time nursing faculty in the College of Nursing at Brigham Young University. Dr. Maughan has also worked for the Utah Department of Health as the state school nurse consultant; and also served as a district a school nurse.
