GW Nursing celebrates its graduates this weekend with multiple events. On Saturday morning, BSN, MSN, DNP and certificate graduates will walk the stage at Lisner Auditorium on GW’s Foggy Bottom campus. Sunday morning, GW Nursing graduates have the chance to participate in the only graduation ceremony staged on the National Mall when the entire GW community gathers for University Commencement. Sen. Tammy Duckworth is the University’s Commencement speaker.
On Saturday, nursing graduates will hear from Beverly Malone, PhD, RN, FAAN, one of the most influential nursing voices who currently serves as CEO of the National League for Nursing (NLN). During Dr. Malone’s exceptional career, she represented hundreds of thousands of American nurses as president of the American Nurses Association (ANA) and also served on President Bill Clinton’s Advisory Commission on Consumer Protection and Quality in the Healthcare Industry. She later worked as a deputy assistant secretary for health for the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services.
Dr. Malone’s experience complements well the emphasis GW Nursing places on health policy throughout all its curriculums.
Dr. Malone was ranked amongst the 100 Most Influential People in Healthcare by Modern Healthcare magazine in 2010 and 2015; in 2016 Dr. Malone moved up the ladder to claim 39th place in the field of leading policy-makers, activists, health care professionals, and corporate figures in the health care, insurance, and pharmaceutical industries.
The GW Nursing Class of 2017 has an exciting weekend of events to look forward to, and we wish our graduates the best of luck as they move forward in their careers! Watch graduation live on our Facebook page.
