Washington Squared Program
The MedStar Washington Hospital Center (MWHC) and GW School of Nursing have an innovative partnership called Washington Squared (W2 ). MWHC is a hospital with nearly 1,000 beds and is part of a non-profit health system with 10 hospitals, over 30,000 associates and numerous specialty and primary care clinics as well as home care. MWHC is a dynamic hospital with strong research and a commitment to high-quality care in which nurses are highly valued as critical team members.
The W2 program offers tuition support to Accelerated BSN (BSN) students and the promise of employment and professional growth at MedStar Washington Hospital Center (MWHC). The W2 program provides a competitive scholarship/loan repayment that:
- Covers 50% of the BSN tuition
- Allows students to fulfill clinical rotations at MWHC
- Guarantees employment for 36 months to successful graduates in good standings of the BSN program
GW School of Nursing requires that students interested in W2 complete the school’s regular admission process and submit a separate application for W2. Select students will be invited for a mandatory in-person interview at MWHC. MWHC has discretion in selecting W2 participants and clinical placement.
Upon acceptance into the program, students agree to fulfill a 36-month, full-time work commitment at MWHC post-graduation where there are opportunities for professional development and growth as a new RN.
