Dean’s Advisory Council
The Dean’s Advisory Council of the School of Nursing was created to advance and support the school’s strategic priorities student success, faculty and staff success, and long-term sustainability. To strengthen our academic reputation, increase our financial resources, forge new strategic relationships, and enrich our global community. The Council will work closely with the Dean and other school leadership to fulfill this mission.
Council members will:
1. Provide advice, counsel, and leadership on strategic issues within the GW School of Nursing.
2. Make a leadership gift commitment.
3. Serve as ambassadors for strategic priorities and funding issues of the school.
4. Assist the Development Office with prospect and donor identification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship.
The next Advisory Council meeting is scheduled for June 5th, 2025 in person at the Ashburn, VA Virginia Science and Technology Campus.

An accomplished leader, educator, and health behaviors researcher, Susan Kelly-Weeder, joined the GW School of Nursing as its fourth dean in July 2023.

Mary-Michael Brown, DNP, RN, CENP recently retired as the Vice President of Nursing Practice Innovation for MedStar Health, a role she held for 12 years.

As Senior Vice President & Chief Nursing Officer at Maimonides Health, Dr. Legler oversees nursing strategy, operations, and clinical excellence.

Ph.D
Dr. Lynn Mertz is a Sr. Strategic Policy Advisor in Global Thought Leadership at AARP, focusing on driving health equity and reducing housing disparities.

PhD, MSN, BSN, RN
As a Vietnam vet, Dr. Southby served as Chief Nurse at Walter Reed Army Medical Center and North Atlantic Regional Medical Command in Washington, DC.

Dr. Dawson served as the Inaugural Chair of the Department of Nursing and later as the Founding Sr. Associate Dean for Academic Affairs at GW.

Dr. Stephanie Kuhn Wright is a Professor Emerita at the GW Nursing and has a combined career in pediatric and family nurse practitioner education.

Brig. Gen. Adams-Ender served as the eighteenth chief of the Army Nurse Corps, instituting the Army Nurse Candidate and Accession Bonus Programs.
