Why Did You Choose GW?

I chose the George Washington University School of Nursing because of its strong reputation, outstanding NCLEX pass rate, and the opportunity it offered for an accelerated path into a new career in nursing. I still remember reviewing the ABSN program on GW’s website and seeing that students who already had at least 60 college credits or a bachelor’s degree in a non-nursing field could pursue an accelerated nursing degree. That truly amazed me. I immediately became interested, started researching the program more closely, and applied soon after. My confidence in that decision became even stronger during orientation. I remember calling my mom afterward and telling her that I already felt the investment was worth it because of how organized, intentional, and supportive everything felt. Expectations were clearly explained, resources were available, and I could immediately see how much support existed for students. Now, as a fourth-semester student approaching the end of the program, I am even more grateful that I chose GW. I have experienced the strength of the faculty, professors, staff, student community, and the program itself. GW has challenged me, supported my growth, and helped shape the nurse and professional I am becoming. Looking back, I truly believe I chose the right place to begin this journey.

Favorite Place to Study on Campus 

My favorite place to study on campus is very specific: the third study room downstairs on the right, just before the last small study room. It was one of the first study rooms I used during my first semester, and I have loved it ever since. The large window gives me a beautiful view outside, especially on bright, sunny days when I can see the blue sky and surrounding scenery. Having that view creates a peaceful environment for me and helps me stay focused while studying, completing assignments, or preparing for exams.

One piece of advice to students 
One piece of advice I truly live by is to remain optimistic, genuine, sincere, and intentional in everything you do. There will be moments in nursing school when things feel uncertain or challenging, but maintaining hope and staying grounded can help you continue moving forward. I have also learned the importance of entering every clinical experience with an open mind. Being genuine, respectful, and willing to learn has allowed me to connect with patients, nurses, faculty, and other members of the healthcare team while creating positive learning experiences. Be intentional with your education. Do not simply complete assignments or memorize information just to get through the program. Give yourself the opportunity to truly understand what you are learning and why it matters. When you approach nursing school with sincerity, optimism, and purpose, you create space not only to succeed academically, but also to grow personally and professionally.

Fun fact about you 
I love getting my henna done, dressing up, and wearing my cultural clothing. Being able to represent where I come from is something that makes me very proud.I also love action movies, mysteries, thrillers with unexpected endings, and older movies and television shows. One of my current favorite shows is The Last Ship. Another fun fact about me is that I am fluent in Arabic and English, and I can understand and communicate across several Arabic dialects. Outside of school, I enjoy spending time with my sisters, especially when we can dress up and go out for a nice, bougie dinner. 
 

Why Did You Choose GW?
I chose GW not only because the program was accelerated, but also because of the high pass rate for the NCLEX and how the school prepared students with things like the simulation lab.

One piece of advice to students 
Part of success is through community. Nurture the friendships you build throughout this journey because they will help you through hard moments.

Fun fact about you 
During the pandemic, I learned how to sew by sewing face masks.
