Learn to design, develop and deliver first-rate education to prepare competent health professionals by earning your Nursing Education Graduate Certificate. Designed to meet your busy schedule, this online graduate certificate only takes a year to complete with four courses across three semesters. We also offer continuing education for those seeking professional development opportunities.

Complete coursework as a standalone certificate or concurrently with our MSN or DNP program options. 

  • $895 per credit hour 
  • Take four courses across three semesters 
  • Apply through our academic admissions process 
  • Fulfills academic eligibility requirement to sit for the NLN Certification for Nurse Educators exam upon completion

Programs of Study

Students will complete the following coursework when pursuing their Nursing Education certificate:

  • NURS 6282: Teaching & Learning in Healthcare 1: Principles of Instructional Design
  • NURS 6283: Teaching & Learning in Healthcare 2: Learner Engagement
  • NURS 6284: Teaching & Learning in Healthcare 3: Program & Curriculum Development
  • Education Elective: NURS 6292: Teaching with Technology in the Health Professions or Alternate

Virtual New Student Orientation

The Virtual New Student Orientation is designed to provide knowledge and tools necessary to succeed at GW Nursing. You will become familiar with academic resources, program requirements, course registration, online technology and student expectations. You will also connect with fellow students, faculty members and advisers.

Technology Requirements

Beginning fall 2018, each student admitted to the Certificate program is expected to own and have ready access to a laptop or tablet with basic productivity software for classroom use. View Policy.
