Carol F. Braungart is an assistant professor and Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) program director. She holds a bachelor of science in nursing from St. Anselm College, a master of science degree as a clinical nurse specialist, and a post-Master-Certificate as an Acute Care and Family Nurse Practitioner.  She earned her Doctorate in Nursing Practice from GW Nursing. Dr. Braungart is board-certified by ANCC as an Acute Care Nurse Practitioner and Family Nurse Practitioner.  


Dr. Braungart's research interests lie in virtual simulation in NP education and the adoption of critical thinking/diagnostic reasoning by new advanced practice nurses. 


Dr. Braungart is active in the National Organization of Nurse Practitioner Faculties, the American Association of Nurse Practitioners, and Sigma Theta Tau International.
