GW Nursing congratulates Dr. Mayri Leslie on her induction to the American College of Nurse-Midwives May 22 in Chicago during the organization's annual meeting.
"Becoming a Fellow in the American College of Nurse-Midwives is a seminal event in my career," Dr. Leslie said. "I am joining the leading researchers, educators and clinicians in nurse-midwifery and maternity care. Now more than ever, our country needs more midwives and expanded use of midwives in maternity care. As a fellow and program director of the concentration in nurse-midwifery for GW, I am proud to be a leader in filling that need."
GW Nursing's concentration in nurse-midwifery is a collaborative program with Shenandoah University.
Dr. Leslie's current research interests include delayed cord clamping, incorporation of evidence into practice, and hypertension in pregnancy and its relationship to future cardiovascular disease.
