Juh Hyun Shin's main areas of research involve the analysis of nursing homes, particularly related to nurse staffing and nursing levels in long-term care homes. Her key research sheds light on the relationship between nurse staffing and quality of care of nursing homes, including the impact of work hours, pay, education levels and continuous education requirements on care-taking in long-term nursing homes. Dr. Shin is doing research to provide superior nursing home quality of care through professional nurses by presenting cost-effective analysis results for optimal nursing sensitive quality of care based on nurse job analysis using a scientific standardized nursing language system (North American Nursing Diagnostics Association-International (NANDA-I), Nursing Intervention Classifications, Nursing Outcome Classifications) applied to the nursing home residents. Before joining GW Nursing, Dr. Shin served as Associate Professor, Ewha Womans University, College of Nursing in Seoul, South Korea. She holds a Ph.D. in Nursing from the University of Iowa, a Masters of Science in Nursing from the University of Pennsylvania, and a bachelors in nursing from Ewha Womans University in Seoul, Korea.
