Associate Professor Sherrie Flynt Wallington, Ph.D., has been appointed to serve on the ZERO Racial Disparities Task Force, an initiative to expand the Black Men’s Prostate Cancer Initiative. Dr. Wallington’s research focus on cancer prevention and disparities, as well her specific research on prostate cancer and community-based participatory research, matches the group’s mission and efforts to increase and expand its prostate cancer education and awareness activities. This national organization was formed in 1996, modeled after the National Breast Cancer Coalition, to support families as they navigate loved ones’ prostate cancer care and survivorship. ZERO’s focus is specifically to eradicate racial disparities across the prostate cancer continuum and become a political force for a cure. Dr. Wallington will work with the ZERO team to strengthen current initiatives to eliminate prostate cancer racial disparities.
