Christine Corbett

Dr. Christine Corbett, DNP, CNP, FNP-BC, CNN-NP, ACHPN, FNKF is an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) board certified as a Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP), Nephrology Nurse Practitioner (CNN-NP) and Advanced Certified Hospice and Palliative Nurse (ACHPN). Dr. Corbett is an Assistant Research Professor for GWU and the Executive Director for the Coalition for Supportive Care of Kidney Patients. She is a practicing Nurse Practitioner specializing in kidney palliative care, and a Trauma-Sensitive HeartMath Certified Practitioner. 

Dr. Corbett’s passion lies in merging nephrology and palliative care to enhance a patient-centered approach to kidney supportive care. She has over 25 years of nephrology experience and four years of experience in palliative care. Her doctoral focus was shared decision-making, advance care planning, and appropriate palliative care referral for select patients with chronic kidney disease. In the past four years, she developed, implemented, and managed the Comprehensive Conservative Kidney Care Clinic for patients choosing to forego dialysis at a safety net academic medical center in Kansas City, MO. 

She is involved and engaged in the Hospice and Palliative Care Nurses Association, and the American Nephrology Nurses Association; currently a Conferences Committee Member and Chair-Elect; and serves as a National Kidney Foundation Medical Advisory Board member, Fellow, Renal Roundtable Committee member, and the 2019-2021 Executive Council for Advanced Practitioners - Publication Chair. She has been invited to present nationally and internationally and is the author of several peer-reviewed publications focusing on kidney supportive care, advanced practice, leadership, and trauma-informed care. 

In her spare time, Dr. Corbett enjoys spending time with her family horse riding, traveling, hiking, reading, and volunteering with equine-assisted services.
