Matthew's experience is a blend of his backgrounds in public health and business administration. He has led research and education programs at Duke Health, including serving as Program Director of the Duke Center for Antimicrobial Stewardship and Infection Prevention. In 2020, Matthew worked with Duke Health's Quality and Safety team to design and lead an employee wellness and well-being program that supported healthcare workers during the COVID-19 pandemic. More recently, he has been an operational lead for startups, including the digital health startup HumanFirst, which was acquired in 2024 by the clinical research organization ICON plc.
- Oversee the administrative operations of the ExPAND Project, a 5-year, $12 million research study led by GW Nursing faculty member Dr. Dale Lupu.
- Ensure the budgeting, reporting, and project management aspects of ExPAND operate accurately and efficiently.
- Co-designs and implements a growth strategy for the Coalition for Supportive Care of Kidney Patients, led by Executive Director Dr. Christine Corbett.
