Majeda El-Banna Begins Role as Interim Vice Dean

Majeda El-Banna, PhD, RN, CNE, ANEF, is transitioning into the role of interim vice dean of the GW School of Nursing, where she will serve as the chief operating officer for the school. Her primary focus is to enhance the quality and credibility of the academic programs by providing strategic direction for the curricula, establishing and managing processes and procedures to support accreditation requirements, and overseeing all aspects of program planning and assessment.

Among her wide range of responsibilities, Dr. El-Banna will be in charge of supervising the accreditation and Board of Nursing reviews for the VA and DC programs. She will collaborate closely with the GW Nursing curriculum task force to integrate the new AACN Essentials. Additionally, she will meticulously analyze evaluation data for the school and individual programs, working alongside associate deans responsible for different degree programs.

Dr. El-Banna will also take on the responsibility of managing data reports for publications like US News and World Report, in partnership with the University staff. She will handle various budgetary and contract matters for the school and actively participate in the strategic planning process. Moreover, she will ensure that policies and practices within the school are well-established and implemented effectively.

Working closely with other academic and administrative leaders of the School of Nursing, Dr. El-Banna will drive improvements in academic processes, facilitate planning and program-related decisions, and ensure compliance with university academic policies. She will play a vital role in maintaining smooth operations and providing support to students, faculty, and staff. Furthermore, Dr. El-Banna will act as the dean in the absence of the incumbent, demonstrating her commitment to continuity and stability.
