Advance policy and public health locally and nationally through Research, Education, Knowledge Sharing, Media Engagement
- Research
- Develop a health services and policy research approach to improve public health.
- Increase dissemination of research/ scholarship and activities of CHPME
- Expand the reach of CHPME policy expertise; seek opportunities for involvement in policy analysis
- Increase involvement and participation in media engagement research opportunities
- Education
- Create an academic and policy learning community that increases competencies in policy and media engagement for nurses
- Create Health Policy coursework CE opportunities (Including Summer Policy Boot Camp)
- Create a doctoral-level engagement strategy to improve policy expertise
- Expand the reach of CHPME through a nationally competitive Policy Fellows program which includes media engagement opportunities
- Knowledge Sharing
- Leverage and expand presence in policy positions and knowledge sharing through Policy Seminar and Leadership series.
- Re-invigorate the National Advisory Council
- Media Engagement
- Expand social media presence and use social media to increase policy scholarship dissemination and the work of the Center
- Provide faculty and students with opportunities to develop media engagement skills that increase capacity to act as advocates for different patient populations.
- Develop CE opportunities for skill building of Media Engagement activities
Charter
The Center for Health Policy and Media Engagement gained initial charter by The George Washington University in early 2017. This designation signals the value of the Center in contributing to the university’s missions of discovery, scholarship and service. GW is home to approximately 70 research centers and institutes spanning all ten of the university’s schools and spurring innovation through cross-disciplinary collaboration.
