Dr. Crystel L. Farina is a distinguished nursing educator with specialties in pain management, oncology, and nursing education, who joined GW Nursing in 2017.  She began her nursing journey with a diploma in nursing from the Macqueen Gibbs Willis School of Nursing and has since advanced her education, earning an MSN in Nursing Education and Leadership and a PhD in Educational Leadership.  With over 20 years of experience in pre-licensure nursing education, Dr. Farina specializes in nursing simulation pedagogy.

AT GW Nursing, Dr. Farina initially served as the Director of Simulation and Experiential Learning before transitioning to the role of Associate Dean of BSN Programs in 2022. Prior to her tenure at GW, She was the Director of Simulation of Health Professions at Chesapeake College, where she was honored with the 2016 Stuart M. Bounds Distinguished Teaching Chair for her innovative use of an iBook to teach nursing assessment and simulation.  

Dr. Farina is a Certified Nurse Educator (CNE), a Certified Healthcare Simulation Educator (CHSE),  a member of the National League for Nursing, Society for Simulation in Healthcare, and the International Nursing Association of Clinical Simulation and Leaning.
