Pinning Ceremony
Pinning Ceremony: Cohort 35
Tuesday, August 19 | 10:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. ET | Jack Morton Auditorium
The Pinning Ceremony welcomes our GW Nursing graduates into the profession of nursing. Professors and mentors present each new nurse with ceremonial pins, representing their graduation from The George Washington University. Graduating nurses will then take the Nightingale Pledge, named in honor of Florence Nightingale, the founder of modern nursing, and pledge their service to the high ideals of the nursing profession.
Ceremony Registration
All eligible students are required to complete the registration form in order to attend and be formally announced as graduating students during our ceremony.
All attendees must complete the registration form to attend our ceremony. Please note that, as space is limited, there is a maximum of 10 in-person guests per graduate. Family, friends, and colleagues may also cheer graduates on remotely through our live stream of the event.
Student Dress Code & Pinning Guidelines
All students should dress in business casual attire with white coats. Academic regalia such as honor cords, alumni cords, veteran’s cords, etc., may be worn over white coats. Blue stoles will be provided to all students (at the check-in table during line-up). Accelerated BSN students will be given GWU nursing pins. Request that RN-BSN students bring their nursing pins from their ADN program.
