June's Research and Accomplishments

July 12, 2017

June was an incredibly exciting and productive month for GW Nursing. Congratulations to the following researchers and scholars:

Ashley Darcy- Mahoney was selected as a 2017 Macy Faculty Scholar. Only five people were selected from a national applicant pool of 84 talented medical and nursing educators. Ashley was chosen because of her accomplishments to date and her future promise as an educational leader and innovator.

Kathleen Griffith, Maritza Dowling and their team received a GWU Cross Disciplinary Research Fund (CDRF) for their project, Chemotherapy Induced Central and Peripheral Nervous System Toxicities.

Laurie Posey, Christine Pintz and team received their second year of funding from the CDRF for their Design and Evaluation of a Virtual Standardized Patient Portal.

Dana Hines was awarded the Nashman Center Faculty Grants for Community-Engaged Scholarship from the Honey W. Nashman Center for Civic Engagement and Public Service for her project, Using Intervention Mapping to Develop a Transgender-Peer Navigation Program.

Rhonda Schwindt was asked to serve on the NLN Strategic Action Group DNP Scholarly Project. The NLN has become aware from discussions with members and after a careful review of the literature, that in the evolving Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) movement, challenges still exist for faculty with the final scholarly project.  The action group was convened to consider approaches to assist nurse faculty throughout the US to better support DNP students through the development, implementation, and evaluation of DNP scholarly project.
