MSN/MPH: Nursing Leadership and Management and MPH@GW

The dual degree MSN: Nursing Leadership and Management and MPH@GW program offers a unique opportunity for nursing students who want to supplement their nursing education with a public health focus.

The MSN curriculum sharpens future nursing leader’s skills to implement improvements in the healthcare system and healthcare policies. The MPH curriculum offers students the necessary skills to be leaders in the design of population and community health programs in the United States and globally. Public health coursework in the MPH program ensures students can assess and apply public health analytic and diagnostic tools, from the unique perspective of nurse leaders, to better identify factors that influence community health. The MSN/MPH program will provide nurses with solid skills to develop health initiatives and improve wellness across populations. Such a program is essential to improving the social determinants of health for populations.

The 60-credit dual program can be completed in six semesters of full-time study. Students who complete all requirements for the MSN: Nursing Leadership and Management may petition to receive the MSN degree before completing the MPH@GW requirements.
