For the second year in a row, the George Washington University School of Nursing earned top-30 rankings in the U.S. News & World Report’s Best Master’s Programs (#27) and Best DNP Programs (#30).
These solid rankings, paired with the school’s top 10 rankings in many specialty areas, are a testament to GW’s growing reputation as a premier destination for nurses looking to advance their careers and excel in administration and management (MSN #3, DNP #4), family nurse practitioner (MSN #10, DNP #13), adult-gerontology primary care (MSN #6, DNP #10), and adult-gerontology acute care (DNP #9). This is the first year that U.S. News & World Report has ranked many of these specialty areas, making GW Nursing’s high rankings particularly notable.
“I’m extremely proud of our faculty, staff, students, alumni and friends who made this possible two years in a row,” said Interim Dean Pamela Slaven-Lee. “And while our top 30 rankings are impressive, I can’t underscore enough the strength of our specialty tracks. Students from around the country have seen the value of our FNP; AGAC and AGPC; and administration, management and leadership programs. A former student recently told me that, ‘You need the degree to be a nurse practitioner…but the GW name also has some weight.’”
This year, 198 schools were included in the ranking of master’s degree programs, and 157 were included in the D.N.P. ranking. U.S. News ranks programs based on 14 indicators, including a peer assessment score, selectivity markers and faculty credentials.
GW Nursing offers several options for study within the two ranked programs:
